Welcome back. I hope everyone has had a really restful and enjoyable Christmas and has recovered from the bugs that were passed around at the end of last term. Thank you very much for the lovely Christmas gifts I received, they were greatly appreciated.
Homework for this week:
Spelling - Test Monday 14th Jan
We will revise the last three weeks spelling patterns from last term this week. The spelling files are attached below.
Literacy - Due in Tues 15th Jan
Over the next 3 weeks we will be reading analysing and writing suspense stories. With this in mind the children have been given a short writing task where they have to imagine looking for a place to stay. They should try and include some clues within their description which hint that the lovely warm and cosy bed and breakfast may not be as welcoming as it first appears!
Numeracy -
Multiples, Percentages and Fractions have been given a work sheet and puzzle to complete please. This week we will be covering decimals, rounding and place value.
Factors have a power point presentation to view which is attached. They should work through each of the sides to ensure they understand the concepts before then attempting the questions set from each section in their homework books please.
Reading Diaries
This term we will be introducing a reading diary for the children to keep. In this diary it is expected that the children keep a record of their reading. We would like you to sign this diary 3 times weekly to show that the children have read to you, or discussed their reading with you. Despite many of the children now being fluent and independent in their reading, it is still really important to be regularly checking their understanding of texts. I will check the diaries during our weekly guided reading sessions so the children should try to ensure that the diaries come to school with their current reading book daily.
