The children's attitude to learning has improved hugely over the past term and this has been reflected in their mock test results. Well done Year 6!
The children are very keen to maintain and improve their level of attainment up to our 'Be Our Best week' in May:
Parents: As you know, I have always felt that homework needs to be balanced against other enrichment activities, time spent with family, and 'down time'.
This is a point in the Year 6 calendar where homework needs to be given higher priority, so that children can feel confident that the best picture of their ability is passed on to secondary school.
Please do your best to support and encourage your child over the next few weeks. If you are away for the entire fortnight, please consider how you may support your child to complete their revision tasks before or after your trip.
As always, I am happy to discuss with how to support your child's individual needs on a one-to-one basis. You can contact me by email or via the school office.
Mrs Wright
Spelling:
I have pulled Year 6 out of the spelling groups for the next few weeks so that we can concentrate on revision of spellings. These will be sent home this week and need to be revised several times a week in order that the children can understand and apply spelling rules out of context of spelling tests.
English:
Please keep up your diary work throughout the Easter holidays, bringing it in to me for checking every Monday in term-time. Remember that the editing part of the task must be carried out with an adult at home. Regular proof-reading and editing of your own work is one of the most effective ways to improve your writing.
Grammar:
I will be sending home grammar sheets with every child to help them revise and apply grammar rules.
Maths:
If you have not yet completed the CGP book, please continue to work on this over the break. If you have finished, please talk to me and I will find you personalised work to support you in areas that you struggle with, or to move you to the next level!
